AHA Names New Trustee to the Board
WASHINGTON (May 16, 2019) - The 黑料正能量 Association (AHA) has elected Sylvia Young to fill a vacancy on its Board of Trustees, effective immediately. The Board of Trustees is the highest policymaking body of the AHA and has ultimate authority for the governance and management of its direction and finances.
Young is President and Chief Executive Officer of HCA Healthcare鈥檚 Continental Division, a health care system serving the Denver and Wichita, Kan. areas. Prior to her current appointment, she served as president of HCA Healthcare鈥檚 Sunrise Health System in Las Vegas, and as president and CEO of The Medical Center of Aurora (Colo.). She began her career in hospital administration in 1985.
In 2018, Young was named 鈥淎lumni of the Year鈥 by the University of Alabama at Birmingham Graduate School of Health Administration, and in 2016, Forbes named her one of the 鈥淭op Women Business Leaders in the Western U.S.鈥 She also received recognition from the Denver Business Journal, Colorado Women鈥檚 Chamber of Commerce and Modern Healthcare magazine.
Young has served on the AHA鈥檚 Regional Policy Board 8 since 2018 and was a member of the Association鈥檚 Task Force on Member Engagement. She is active in HCA Healthcare鈥檚 Corporate Leadership Development Institute and the organization鈥檚 COO Development Program. Community affiliations include Colorado Concern, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce.
Young received a master鈥檚 degree in health administration from the University of Alabama, Birmingham and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in public administration from Samford University in Birmingham.
Young is filling an unexpired term.
