Health care human resources leaders are at the forefront of a constantly evolving health care landscape, and the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration – an AHA professional membership group – is the premier organization supporting HR leaders in the health care field. ASHHRA brings together HR leaders from across the nation for the , Sept. 15-18, in Pittsburgh. The conference will connect HR leaders to share new ideas, best practices, thought leadership and innovation.

The event will focus on the theme “Meeting the Challenge and Making a Difference,” to highlight the always changing health care environment – from physician reimbursement, hospital quality measure, legislative updates, the increasing workforce shortage and more. Attendees from all career levels – new to the profession, C-Suite and everyone in between – can expect education tailored specifically for the health care HR field. The conference offers timely and informative learning sessions carefully curated by the Annual Conference Committee, innovative ideas and solutions from exhibitors at the exposition and valuable face-to-face networking opportunities throughout the conference. Attendees also earn continuing education credits to maintain their certifications for CHHR, HRCI, SHRM and ACHE.

Some highlights include: 

  • Preconference workshops on Sept. 15 offer full-day immersive learning along with the Certified in Healthcare Human Resources (CHHR) exam in the afternoon. 
  • The conference will officially kick off at the opening ceremony on Sept. 16 with a keynote presentation by Aneesh Chopra – the first U.S. chief technology officer – appointed by former President Barack Obama in 2009. 
  • The Monday Motivational Breakfast will feature a keynote presentation by Jeff Glasbrenner, a three-time Paralympian and the first American amputee to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
