At least 24 million people have had seasonal flu this season, according to  from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Nearly 49,000 patients were admitted to hospitals with the flu for the week ending Feb. 1. Emergency department visits due to the flu remain classified as 鈥渧ery high鈥 and 鈥渋ncreasing,鈥 the agency . ED visits for COVID-19 are 鈥渓ow鈥 and 鈥渄ecreasing,鈥 while visits for respiratory syncytial virus are 鈥渕oderate鈥 and 鈥渄ecreasing.鈥 Overall respiratory illness activity causing people to seek health care is 鈥渧ery high.鈥
