Senate votes to extend government funding through early March, House passage expected
The Senate Jan. 18 passed a (H.R. 2872) funding four appropriations bills through March 1 and the remaining eight appropriations bills through March 8. The House is expected to pass the CR later on Jan. 18 and the president is expected to sign it into law to prevent a government shutdown at midnight Jan. 19. Importantly, the legislation also delays Medicaid disproportionate share hospital cuts; extends authorizations for community health centers, the National Health Service Corps and Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education through March 8; and extends the physician payment work Geographic Practice Cost Indices floor for 2024.
