Surgeon general encourages students to build personal connections聽

U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, M.D., will travel to colleges throughout November to inspire people to incorporate moments of connection into their daily lives to help improve their health and well-being. During the visits, Murthy will the students to take five actions for five days that express gratitude, offer support or ask for help from people in their lives, as outlined in his May on the healing effects of social connection and community.
鈥淟oneliness is a widespread national health problem 鈥 one that impacts young Americans at surprisingly high rates,鈥 . 鈥淛ust like exercise and nutrition, our relationships with one another are fundamental components of our overall health and well-being. The tour and connection challenge will help students learn how to better incorporate moments of connection into their daily lives.鈥
