AHA shares hospital perspective for House hearing on price transparency and competition in health care    
AHA today submitted a statement to the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health for a this afternoon examining price transparency and competition in health care. The statement highlights hospitals’ high compliance with the Hospital Price Transparency Rule and recommends actions to streamline transparency policies. It also explains how some hospitals use mergers and acquisitions to expand access to services and better serve patients where they live. In addition, AHA strongly opposes expanding Medicare site-neutral payment policies, which threaten access to care in rural and historically marginalized communities; further restricting access to the 340B Drug Pricing Program, which allows hospitals to reduce the price of outpatient pharmaceuticals and expand health services for low-income patients and communities; or repealing a 2010 law limiting physician referrals to new hospitals in which they have an ownership interest.
