Hospitals and health systems added 15,700 jobs in December, while U.S. jobs overall increased by 223,000, according to  released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Total health care jobs grew by over 54,700 to a seasonally adjusted 16.7 million, including 9,100 new jobs in nursing and residential care facilities.
 
鈥淭he December jobs data show that hospitals and health systems continue to prioritize filling critical positions to care for their patients,鈥 said AHA鈥檚 Aaron Wesolowski, vice president of policy research, analytics and strategy. 鈥淗owever, they continue to face tremendous workforce and inflationary cost pressures, which resulted in unprecedented losses for many hospital and health systems in 2022.鈥
