The average annual premium for employer-sponsored family health coverage rose 4% this year to $22,221, including employer and worker contributions, according to the latest of employer-sponsored health insurance by the Kaiser Family Foundation. The average annual premium for single coverage increased 4% to $7,739. In comparison, workers’ wages rose 5% and inflation rose 1.9% over the same period, the report notes. About 85% of covered workers have a general annual deductible for single coverage, which averaged $1,669, about the same as last year but 68% more than a decade ago. According to the survey, average family premiums have increased 47% since 2011.
