In a  reported this week in JAMA Network Open, rural hospital mergers were associated with lower mortality for patients admitted to the hospital for heart attack, heart failure, stroke and pneumonia. The authors said the finding 鈥渋s important to enhancing rural health care and reducing urban-rural disparities in quality of care.鈥
