Health care jobs increase by 125,500 in July
The health care field added 125,500 jobs in July, increasing nearly 1% to a seasonally adjusted 15.7 million, the Bureau of Labor Statistics today. That’s the third monthly increase for the sector after losing 1.5 million jobs in April. Office-based providers, such as physicians and dentists, continued to account for much of the increase. Hospitals added about 27,400 jobs in July, their second monthly increase since the beginning of the pandemic in March. Nursing and residential care facilities continued to lose jobs, and are about 6.5% below their peak of 3.4 million in February 2020.
