The AHA Center for Health Innovation will present the 2019 TRUST Award to A. Marc Harrison, M.D., president and CEO of Intermountain Healthcare, July 25 for his visionary leadership in helping contribute to a society of healthy communities where each individual reaches their highest potential for health. As leader of the Salt Lake City-based health system, Harrison helped establish the Utah Alliance for the Determinants of Health to proactively address factors affecting community health, such as chronic hunger, affordable housing, joblessness and personal safety. He also spearheaded the not-for-profit generic drug company Civica Rx to help make generic medications more accessible and affordable to hospitals across the country. 鈥淒r. Harrison is a national and international thought leader on transformation and innovation,鈥 said AHA Chair-elect Melinda Estes, M.D., chair of the Center鈥檚 Leadership Council and president and CEO of Saint Luke鈥檚 Health System in Kansas City, Mo. 鈥淗e is leading bold new approaches that are improving the quality of health care and making it more accessible and affordable.鈥 The award will be presented during the AHA Leadership Summit in San Diego.
