Gragnolati formally introduced as AHA chairman

A lifelong career in health care is a life of service, and “more importantly, it’s a lifetime spent in the company of the most dedicated, self-sacrificing, resilient people on the planet,” AHA Chairman Brian Gragnolati said Sunday at the inaugural Leadership Celebration where he was formally introduced as chairman of the association.
He started his health care career as an emergency medical technician while in college and held various senior leadership positions at several organizations, including Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md., and WellSpan Health in York, Pa., before his current role as president and CEO of Atlantic Health System, headquartered in Morristown, N.J.
“Through his career, in settings of every size, Brian has never lost sight of what matters most,” said AHA Immediate Past Chair Nancy Howell Agee, president and CEO of Carilion Clinic, who introduced Gragnolati. “In his own words, ‘health care is people taking care of people.’”
As AHA chairman, Gragnolati said it is a privilege to travel around the country and talk with members about access, affordability and inclusion in communities while “working alongside all of you to advance health in America.”
