AHA infographic: PAC providers need time to implement major reforms

A new AHA infographic highlights the timeline for post-acute care reforms under the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation Act of 2014, and urges policymakers to prevent additional changes that would jeopardize care for post-acute patients, provide a stable environment to implement the complex regulations already in progress, and allow evaluation of the impact of these reforms to guide further improvements. The law called for building a new PAC prospective payment system model, aligning PAC quality and patient assessment measures, and consistent Medicare conditions of participation for post-acute care. The AHA opposes a Medicare Payment Advisory Commission recommendation to expedite the PAC PPS implementation to 2021, among other concerns.
