The American Society for Healthcare Engineering will present its 2018  to Kaiser Permanente Zion Medical Center in San Diego and Energy to Care Awards to 68 hospitals for slashing energy use. The Energy to Care program recognizes hospitals that reduce their annual energy use by at least 10% over the previous year or by 15% over two years, and prior winners who reduce it an additional 5%. Kaiser Permanente Zion Medical Center reduced energy use by 12% in a single year, and senior leadership has supported and funded several energy saving initiatives. ASHE will honor this year’s winners at its 55th Annual Conference and Technical Exhibition July 15-18 in Seattle. ASHE is an AHA professional membership group.
