Delaware Hospitals Provide $348.9 Million in Community Support

Delaware hospitals contributed almost $348.9 million in community benefits to the state in fiscal year 2016, according to a new by the Delaware Healthcare Association. The total includes the value of community benefit programs, charity care, bad debt, and payment shortfalls attributed to Medicare, Medicaid and other government-sponsored health insurance. 鈥淒elaware鈥檚 hospitals have a tremendous impact on the health and economy of the state,鈥 said DHA President and CEO Wayne Smith. 鈥淭hey have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to provide quality health care services to everyone who walks through their front doors, regardless of their ability to pay.鈥
