The National Fire Protection Association is accepting  through Feb. 23 on a provisional preparedness and response standard for active shooter and other hostile events. Effective as early as April, the NFPA 3000 standard would provide guidance for organizing, managing and sustaining an active preparedness and response program to reduce the risk and impact of hostile events. The standard was developed by an NFPA committee including representatives from federal agencies, first responders, hospitals and universities in response to the recent national rise in casualties from active shooter and hostile incidents.
