Poll: Lowering prescription drug costs a high priority for many Americans
Six in 10 Americans identify lowering the cost of prescription drugs as a “top priority” for President Trump and Congress when it comes to health care, according to a recent by the Kaiser Family Foundation. When asked about specific proposals to hold down drug costs, a majority of adults support allowing the federal government to negotiate with drug companies to lower prices for Medicare beneficiaries (92%); making it easier for generic drugs to come to market (87%); requiring drug companies to release information on how they set prices (86%); limiting what drug companies can charge for certain high-cost drugs (78%); allowing Americans to buy drugs imported from Canada (72%); and creating an independent group to oversee drug pricing (72%).
