Hospitals add nearly 7,000 jobs in September
Employment at the nation's hospitals rose by 0.1% in September to a seasonally adjusted 5,110,200 people, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. That's 6,900 more people than in August and 155,100 more than a year ago. Without the seasonal adjustment, which removes the effect of fluctuations due to seasonal events, hospitals employed 5,112,100 people in September – 5,900 more than in August and 156,900 more than a year ago. The nation's overall unemployment rate was little changed in September at 5.0%.
