At its annual meeting this week in Fort Worth, TX, the American Organization of Nurse Executives will present its inaugural  to Erik Martin, director of the pediatric intensive care unit at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The award is named for retiring AONE CEO Pamela Thompson, who played a pivotal role in the organization’s development of programs for emerging nurse leaders. Martin, who advocated for adding the voice of the early careerist to AONE’s Board of Directors and serves as a mentor to other early careerists, “is the true embodiment of the early careerist award,” Thompson said. Also receiving  at the annual meeting are: Linda Burnes Bolton, health system chief nurse executive and vice president and chief nursing officer at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles – AONE Prism Diversity Award; Louise Jakubik, president and chief mentoring officer at the Nurse Mentoring Institute – AONE Mentor Award; Neil Jesuele, executive vice president at the AHA – AONE Honorary Member Award; and the Indiana Organization of Nurse Executives – AONE Affiliate Achievement Award. AONE is an AHA subsidiary.
