Illinois and Chicago-area hospital associations to merge
The Illinois Hospital Association and Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council have agreed to merge in January, the organizations yesterday. “Together, the leadership at IHA and MCHC are building a dynamic, integrated organization, with a powerful, unified voice that will support member health care institutions and drive continued innovation to benefit the health of all Illinoisans,” said IHA Board Chair Dean Harrison, president and CEO of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, and MCHC Board Chair Michael Eesley, CEO of Centegra Health System. IHA President and CEO Maryjane Wurth will lead the integrated organization, which will be called IHA. MCHC President and CEO Dan Yunker will serve as IHA executive vice president and president and CEO of the Midwest Healthcare Institute, a regional entity that will offer innovative solutions to hospitals and health care organizations. IHA Chief Government Relations Officer A.J. Wilhelmi will serve as executive vice president for advocacy, policy and member services. The organizations announced a letter of intent to integrate in April.
