Erlanger Health System treats victims injured in TN shooting
Erlanger Health System’s trauma center in Chattanooga, TN, treated a police officer and two Marines who were injured in yesterday’s shooting at a military recruitment center and a reserve center in Chattanooga. Four Marines were killed, and the shooter also is deceased. Erlanger President and CEO Kevin Spiegel that the drills conducted regularly with the Chattanooga Police Department, Sheriff’s Office and local emergency medical services agencies helped prepare the hospital for yesterday’s events. “I am so thankful we live in a community with such caring, competent leaders and professionals, and that, we at Erlanger, have the expertise and capability to treat trauma patients, particularly in situations like this,” Spiegel said. AHA Executive Vice President Rick Pollack said, “Every hospital in America is proud of the heroic care provided by their Chattanooga colleagues to the survivors of this senseless tragedy. We send our deepest condolences to the families of those lost and to the military community.”
