My four decades in health care have taught me there is no substitute for personal connections. Face-to-face conversations with colleagues, patients and caregivers keep us grounded and in touch with what is really going on.

As president and CEO of Atlantic Health System, I make it a priority to 鈥渞ound鈥 in both our clinical and corporate environments. There鈥檚 nothing I enjoy more than meeting and talking with team members about what鈥檚 working, what we can do better, and what keeps them up at night.

Similar opportunities can be found by attending the AHA鈥檚 2019 Annual Membership Meeting held April 7-10 in Washington, D.C. Our nation鈥檚 health care leaders will come together to share insights, discuss common challenges, and learn more about issues that affect us as caregivers and impact our communities.

This year鈥檚 theme is "Meeting Today's Challenges, Creating a Healthier Tomorrow,鈥 and we鈥檝e designed the meeting to help you do just that.

Through an invigorating mix of education sessions, high-profile speakers and networking opportunities, we鈥檒l explore innovation and value, care in rural America, diversity and inclusion, post-acute care, drug pricing and more.

We鈥檒l hear from congressional leaders, including Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo.; Reps. Richard Neal, D-Mass., Michael Burgess, R-Texas, and Donna Shalala, D-Fla.; as well as top officials from the Department of Health and Human Services 鈥 Eric Hargan and Adam Boehler 鈥 and make time to deliver our field鈥檚 key advocacy messages to lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

If you have not already  for the meeting, please do so today. I look forward to seeing you in Washington, D.C.
