As of August 31, 2023, Hurricane Idalia has downgraded to a tropical storm as it heads back out into the Atlantic ocean. Storm conditions are still persisting along the North Carolina and Virginia coast lines. Storm surges along the coast still carry a risk of dangerous surf, heavy rains can cause flooding, and heavy winds still have potential to cause damage to property and power lines.
