The urn lamp is universally accepted as symbolic of knowledge and is the official emblem of the Florence Nightingale Nurses.</p> <p>The American eagle symbolizes the United States of America; the maple leaves the Dominion of Canada; Sprenger in First Person: An Oral History</span></a><span lang="EN"></span></li> </ul> <p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN">Growing up in the rural community of Conger, Minnesota, with a population of fewer than 200 residents, Gordon Sprenger thought he might like to run a small business like his relatives did when he grew up.<span>  </span>After graduating from St. Olaf College, he broadened the scope of his thinking about his future business career by interviewing with large corporations.<span>  </span>However, advice from an insightful advisor caused him to consider hospital administration.<span>  </span>Mr. Sprenger applied to, and was accepted at, the graduate program in hospital administration at the University of Minnesota directed by the influential professor James A. My name is Kim Garber, and I will be interviewing Wayne Lerner, whose career in health care leadership began at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in the 1970s and continued at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and most recently at Holy Cross Hospital, also in Chicago.
