We can learn from each other and work together to amplify stories of how hospitals and health systems are fighting to protect care in our communities.</p> <p>The AHA team is planning a strong lineup of conferences and events for 2023 to keep health care leaders connected and highlight stories of impact, innovation and inspiration. Check out these opportunities in the year ahead:</p> <ul> <li><a href="https://ruralconference.aha.org/" target="_blank">The 36th Annual AHA Rural Health Care Leadership Conference</a> convenes Feb. 19–22 in San Antonio. This two-and-a-half-day event will feature prominent leaders inside and outside health care who will offer unique perspectives and solution-oriented thinking to ensure a stronger rural health system. Registration is now open, and early bird registration ends Dec. 9.</li> <li><a href="https://annualmeeting.aha.org/" target="_blank">AHA Annual Membership Meeting</a>, April 23–25 in Washington, D.C., will give health care leaders an opportunity to meet face-to-face with elected officials and key policymakers. Together we can deliver a united, powerful message on the positive impacts of hospitals and health systems in our communities. Registration opens in January.</li> <li><a href="https://equityconference.aha.org/" target="_blank">The Accelerating Health Equity Conference</a>, led by the AHA Community Health Improvement network and AHA’s Institute for Diversity and Health Equity, will be May 16–18 in Minneapolis. This conference convenes health professionals focused on improving community health, well-being and equity. Registration opens February 2023.</li> <li><a href="https://leadershipsummit.aha.org/" target="_blank">AHA Leadership Summit</a>, July 16–18 in Seattle, brings together a diverse group of strategic and visionary health care leaders who represent excellence in the field and are working to boldly transform their organizations. Hospital; and Sade' Rolon, associate vice president of environmental services at ProMedica Health System in Toledo, Ohio. In addition, AHE named advisory board member Eric Nowak, associate vice president of hospitality services at Geisinger Health in Danville, Pa., to its 2023 Executive Committee.</p> Mon, 31 Oct 2022 15:04:29 -0500 AHE AHA’s Association for the Healthcare Environment honors director of education /news/headline/2021-11-05-ahas-association-healthcare-environment-honors-director-education <p>The Association for the Healthcare Environment, an AHA professional membership group, this week presented its <a href="https://www.ahe.org/about/awards/phoenix_award">2021 Phoenix Award</a> to Sandra Rials, AHE director of education. The highest honor bestowed on an AHE member, the award recognizes a professional who has made outstanding contributions to the environmental services profession. Rials the first AHE staff member to receive the award.</p> <p>“Sandra’s passion and commitment to education and the advancement of all levels of the environmental services profession, evidenced by the success and industry recognition of the AHE Signature Programs as well as a comprehensive portfolio of complimentary member education made this an easy advisory board decision,” said Brad Winnie, president of the AHE Advisory Board, which selects recipients.  </p> <p>The award was presented during AHE’s Health Care Leadership and Preparedness Symposium in Orlando, FL. <br />  </p> Fri, 05 Nov 2021 12:03:03 -0500 AHE AHE names 2021 Environmental Services Departments of the Year /news/headline/2021-08-13-ahe-names-2021-environmental-services-departments-year <p>Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pa., and Santa Barbara (Calif.) Cottage Hospital/Cottage Health will receive the 2021 Environmental Services Department of the Year Award, the AHA’s Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE) <a href="/press-releases/2021-08-12-ahe-presents-2021-environmental-services-department-year-award">announced</a> yesterday. </p> <p>The award recognizes a department’s significant contributions to the overall patient experience and health care organization’s mission. Also receiving honorable mentions this year were CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, N.C. and Sutter Medical Center Sacramento (Calif.). </p> <p>The departments will be recognized in the September issue of Health Facilities Management magazine and at the AHE Health Care Leadership and Preparedness Symposium Oct. 31-Nov. 3 in Orlando, Fla.
