AHA blog: Hospitals and Health Systems More than Earn their Tax Exemption

Tax-exempt hospitals provided $9 of benefit for every $1 of tax exemption in 2019, the most recent year for which comprehensive data is available, writes AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. Unlike a recent Kaiser Family Foundation analysis that took a much narrower view, last year鈥檚 report by EY 鈥渓ooked at the entire range of community benefits, not just financial assistance 鈥 a much fairer and more comprehensive way to measure how much hospitals give back,鈥 Pollack notes.
