Blog: New United laboratory policy puts profits ahead of patient care
In this blog post, Terrence Cunningham, AHA director of administrative simplification policy, highlights how United HealthCare鈥檚 Designated Diagnostic Provider program could reduce patient access to care and choice of provider, as well as subject patients to a higher risk of an unanticipated medical bill.
鈥淭he health care system has been moving toward giving patients a more active role in their care,鈥 Cunningham writes. 鈥淯nfortunately, United鈥檚 prioritization of profits over patients runs amok of this concept.鈥
