The AHA this week sponsored two sessions at . One session was “Healthy Mothers, Healthy Communities: Opportunities and Challenges to Ending Maternal Health Disparities for Black Women,” hosted by Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Ill. The panel featured a number of speakers, including Dana Crawford, director of the Trauma-Informed Care Program at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Maternal health is a high priority for the AHA. Through the Better Health for Mothers and Babies initiative, the AHA is pursuing the goal of eliminating maternal mortality and reducing severe morbidity. The AHA also sponsored a session hosted by Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla., on the social status of black men and boys.
