The rate of uninsured adults dropped in every state and Washington, DC, in 2015, according to a by the Commonwealth Fund. Kentucky led states with a 25 percentage point decline in its uninsurance rate for adults. According to the report, the uninsurance rate for children declined by 2 percentage points or more in 28 states since 2013. The uninsured rate for children was at or below 5 percent in 25 states in 2015. In addition, people in 38 states reported they were less likely to say costs prevented them from seeing a physician when they needed care. “Tracking state-level progress is essential as we work toward a health system that offers affordable, high-quality health care for everyone,” said Commonwealth Fund President David Blumenthal, M.D. “These findings reveal that states have come a long way in the past few years and uninsured rates are at historic lows.”
