California Hospital Association President and CEO Duane Dauner plans to retire at the end of 2018, the association  yesterday. California hospitals have benefited from Dauner’s leadership, public policy acumen and advocacy skills for more than three decades, noted Jim Holmes, board chair for the CHA and California Association of Hospitals & Health Systems, a related organization. Before taking the helm at CHA in 1985, Dauner served 10 years as CEO of the Missouri Hospital Association and 10 years at the Kansas Hospital Association. CHA will launch a nationwide search for a new president and CEO next year. “For many years, Duane has been a great friend, partner and colleague,” said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. “His leadership at the state and national levels has benefited hospitals and health systems across California and the nation. He leaves a strong legacy of keeping patients at the center of care.”
