AHA commits to CMS effort to increase young adult enrollment in the Marketplaces
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services today plans to step up enrollment outreach to young adults for the 2017 Health Insurance Marketplaces, including working with partners to promote enrollment tools and information. As part of the initiative, AHA plans to develop a social media toolkit to help hospitals reach and educate young adults about the Marketplaces and how to enroll and get assistance with coverage. CMS also will work with the Internal Revenue Service to provide information on financial assistance to families who paid or claimed an exemption from the fee for not having health coverage; encourage employers and health plans to help young adults aging out of their parents’ coverage understand their Marketplace options; and work with states to support transitions to the Marketplaces from Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
