Reuters: Prices for four top-selling drugs more than doubled over five years
Four of the nation’s top-selling drugs more than doubled in price over five years, while six others rose by more than 50%, according to a new by Reuters. “Together, the price increases on drugs for arthritis, high cholesterol, asthma and other common problems added billions in costs for consumers, employers and government health programs,” the news agency reports. John Rother, executive director of the Campaign for Sustainable Rx Pricing, , “This is further evidence that skyrocketing drug prices are more widespread than a few bad actors. When major drug companies hike prices on common prescription drugs, Americans suffer.” AHA is a supporter of the campaign, which seeks to foster a national dialogue on the pricing of high-cost drug therapies.
