Multiple hospitals were caring for people injured during a mass shooting yesterday at a social services center in San Bernardino, CA, that killed at least 14 and wounded 21. Two suspects in the shooting were fatally shot during an afternoon police chase, according to news reports. Hospitals caring for the injured included Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton; Loma Linda University Medical Center; Community Hospital of San Bernardino; Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center; and St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino. At a  this morning, Loma Linda University Medical Center CEO Kerry Heinrich said the level one trauma center also was dealing yesterday with a phoned in bomb threat. “I am incredibly grateful for the dedication of our staff through a very difficult time,” he said. Cheri Hummel, vice president of emergency management and facilities for the California Hospital Association, said the state’s hospitals have done extensive planning and training for active shooter incidents.
